She first noticed her skin starting to change at the very beginning of her teenage years when she was only 14 years old. Being devastated by the diagnosis, Liver was constantly trying to hide her imperfections. Learning to live with vitiligo was a very long and challenging journey—but in the end, she found solace in fitness, which enabled her to start fresh.

“I learned to accept it with time, and after time, I appreciated what I look like and who I am to lastly love myself for all I am,” she told Bored Panda.

She got so deep into loving her body that she started lifting weights and became a professional bodybuilder. Now she adores her image and is proud of sharing it publicly.

“My view of vitiligo seems to me to be very different from the general, I think it is necessary first that you have vitiligo, after this acceptance you choose what you want to do,” Stanganelli told Bored Panda. “I still quote Benjamin Disraeli: ‘Life is too short to be small.’”

Together with his wife, he took up crocheting, and although, it was hard in the beginning, he managed to create his first doll, which he gifted to his granddaughter, so she could have something to always remember him by. Now, he has many different orders, and his goal is to help inclusive children feel “normal.”
