During her morning ride to work, a passenger named Diane got into a conversation with her Uber driver, Lamiyah Jabbar. The Tim Hortons employee revealed that she does not have that much money as she uses most of her earnings to take care of her grandchildren.

Although it is only August, Diane told Lamiyah how she was looking forward to Christmas as she hoped to receive a new robe, house shoes, and a dress for church under her tree.

It was then that the driver decided to play Santa.

Lamiyah chose not to pick up any other passengers, and instead went straight to Old Navy to get Diane some early presents! She then returned to the drive-through and captured the surprise gift-giving on camera.

“This was on my mind from the moment she got out my car, so I had to contribute,” Lamiyah wrote in the Instagram video caption. “Can you imagine waiting till Christmas just to get a robe, house shoes and a outfit for church? We tend to take things for granted, but why not help someone else if you can?”

Three devastating shooting incidents have rocked the US in the last couple of weeks, and the most recent Oscar winner has decided to help the residents of the cities affected.

The Shallow singer has announced that her Born This Way Foundation will partner with Donors Choose to fund the educational needs of students in El Paso, Texas; Dayton, Ohio; and Gilroy, California.

The funding will cover the costs of projects and resources in 162 classrooms.

“My heart goes out to those who were taken from us too soon and to their families, loved ones, and communities who are left to grieve,” Gaga wrote in a Facebook post. “Everyone has the right to laws that make them feel safe in their communities. In this moment, I want to channel my confusion, frustration, and fury into hope. Hope that we are there for each other and for ourselves. Surviving and recovering from these tragedies also means prioritising your mental health and checking in on your loved ones. If you’re struggling, please be brave and tell a trusted someone. Don’t be scared to ask for help, I beg you. If you see a loved one struggling, please be brave and reach out, remind them it’s ok to not be ok, and listen to them.”

For over 30 years, scientists believed that the bones were merely an unusual example of Massospondylus, but dinosaur researcher at London’s Natural History Museum, Professor Paul Barrett, has now identified it as an entirely different species.

Scientists believe that it would have measured three meters from the tip of its snout to the end of its tail, walked on two legs, had a fairly chunky body, a long slender neck, and a small boxy head.

The presumed omnivore has been named Ngwevu intloko which means grey skull in the Xhosa language spoken in South Africa.

The Breaking Bad star performed an act of pure courage whilst recently driving in Los Angeles.

He saw a woman accidentally speed through a red light and collide with another car, causing the first vehicle to overturn.

The actor jumped out of his own car to help and heard the woman screaming that her son with special needs was still trapped in the overturned car.

Springing into action, Trejo and another bystander pulled the door open and managed to free the boy who was strapped into his car seat.

“He was panicked,” the 75-year-old told KABC of the boy. “I said ‘OK, we have to use our superpowers.’ So he screamed ‘superpowers’ and we started yelling ‘superpowers.’ I said do this, with the muscles. He said ‘muscles.’ We got kind of a bond.”

The scene definitely had a happy ending.

Based on an initiative by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the Médecins Francophones du Canada, physicians have been encouraged to send their patients to art museums to relieve stress.

“I am convinced that in the 21st century … the cultural experience of art will contribute to health and well-being as much as the practice of sports,” said Executive Director and Chief Curator of the MMFA, Nathalie Bondil.

Participating doctors are given 50 prescription slips to administer to patients, meaning that a family of two adults and two children can forgo the $31 admission fee for a single adult to enter for free.

Over 185 prescriptions have been filled in the greater Montreal area since November 2018, with studies being conducted on the effects of art therapy on conditions like anxiety, depression, Alzheimer’s disease, and cardiac arrhythmia.

Dr. Paulo de Valdoleiros got his medical start rather late in life, only enrolling in his studies at the age of 46 and graduating at the age of 51.

“I believe that medicine is my calling, it’s something that you’re born for, and I have always wanted to do this,” he said. “We all chase money, but I’m tired of chasing money, I don’t want to be the boss and be in charge, I just want to do what I like to do, and that is help people,” de Valdoleiros said to the Bloemfontein Courant.

The Bloemfontein resident has decided to open a practice where patients can walk in and only have to pay what they can afford.

“Basically, the concept was I can take care of anybody — you pay what you can afford,” de Valdoleiros said. “So, I see the patient; I examine if necessary. We give out basic medication, and by basic medication, I mean the type of medicine that has been around for about 40 years, so it is relatively cheap… I see the patient; I give them medication if necessary. You then go to the reception, and you decide your fee. The staff are trained not to tell you what it is or what it isn’t because we don’t have a set fee. It’s what you decide, what you can afford — it’s between you and your conscience. In a sense, I’m getting people to make decisions they have never had to make. I feel that just because you don’t have money shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to see a doctor,” he said in an interview with the Gateway News.

An avid hiker with a penchant for photography has combined both of his passions to create climbing routes that literally light up the sky.

Recording the routes at night, through a series of long-exposure images taken from the foot of each rock face, Luke Rasmussen transforms his trails into colourful journeys.

“I wanted to capture the passage of time as I moved up a rock face, flowing from one hold to the next,” said the 27-year-old. “I wanted a way to visualise the line that exists in a climber’s mind as he pieces together the natural features of the wall. I wanted to be able to illuminate the motion that I experience while climbing. And I think I’ve begun to do just that.”

The Las Vegas native has a unique approach to his photography.

“My photography is an attempt to capture time frozen in a moment rather than a moment frozen in time,” said Rasmussen. “The photo is a snapshot of the moment. But, what it’s not is a snapshot of time. Time is that stacking up of moments, the aggregate of every moment past, present, and future.”

But now, an even more incredible feat has been achieved.

Ethiopian officials say they have managed to successfully plant 350 million trees during a single day!

The event formed part of the country’s “Green Legacy” initiative in light of UN officials reporting that Ethiopia’s forest coverage has decreased from 35% in the early 20th century to just over 4% in the early 2000s.

2.6 billion saplings have so far been planted throughout the country, with Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, intending to plant at least 4 billion indigenous trees before October.

It’s not every day that one turns 100-years-old, but that’s exactly how old Kerry Maggard and Deb Eggers’ aunt was turning and the sisters planned to celebrate with her.

That was, until, their flight from Minneapolis to Sioux Falls got canceled as a result of bad weather and all other flights to the state were fully booked.

The siblings were also unable to rent a car to drive the 200 miles to their aunt’s birthday party, leaving them with the only (and rather expensive) option they could think of — ordering an Uber.

“I was shocked that anyone picked it up. It was kind of a last resort to see if anyone would consider it,” Maggard told CNN.

According to the app, their driver’s name was Jesus.

“It was picked up immediately and of course I got the message on the phone which said ‘Jesus is 7 minutes away’. When that popped up, I thought God has a sense of humour.” she said.

Jesus drove 4 hours to take the sisters to celebrate their aunt’s centennial (and 4 hours back), saying he believed it was an important occasion. The trip came to $216 and Maggard gave him a $50 tip.

We guess Jesus took the wheel when he needed to.
