]]> Raku Inoue is an artist famous for turning flower petals and other plant parts into paintings of various insects and animals. One of his recent works portrays a Caribbean flamingo who became disabled after running into a hotel window. Inoue’s painting is an homage to the brave bird and a celebration of his life.

“Recently @jasperdoest released a series of photographic journal on @natgeo on Bob: a Caribbean flamingo who became an ambassador for the Fundashon Dier en Onderwijs Cariben(FDOC) after he was disabilited when he flew into a hotel window,” he wrote on Instagram next to the flamingo photo.

Natura Insects Chocolate Box: "Chocolat-blanc-à-la-menthe-religieuse" (2/3) Posting the Valentine series a bit earlier this year since I was a day late for my lovebugs in the East last year. Once again, following up 2019's Natura Insects Chocolate Box Series by releasing three new flavors! Let me know which flavor is your favorite! I have also included a preview of last year's set for your pleasure:) – – I met my soulmate about 3 years ago during a BBQ gathering at my friend's house. I remember having a huge crush on her from the first sight and I thought to myself how much I wanted her in my life. I then mustered all courage I had and made my way to her and we started talking. We noticed that we shared the same passionate and driven soul and how we both loved chasing our dreams. Her being an academic and I being an artist, together we have learned to create our own world in which we made our visions come true. – One thing we always talk about is how we contemplated not attending the BBQ since it was a bit far from where we were living at that time. But something pushed both of us to go. Was this meant to be?? is this destiny?? Natura Memorial 2020: “Whale” (3/3) – It's been a little more than a year since my step-father passed away in early December 2018. Its crazy to see how much time flies by when Im being propelled by the currents of life. Many things happened since his passing that I wish he was here to witness but that's unrealistic. I sometime find myself reminiscing, looking back when he was well and alive. He lived simply while appreciating the small things of life..I now realize that he taught me immensely without saying a word. His presence, then and now is much heartfelt and he is still being missed. May he rest in peace. – As part of a memorial, I produced a set of three images after Reynald's passing in 2018. An owl symbolizing his wisdom, a rhinoceros beetle for his strength and finally a white tiger capturing his kindness. I was particularly fond of the white tiger and how it shared his blue eyes. Few months later in 2019, The white tiger was featured on the cover of @craftcouncil April's issue and I'm sure Reynald is looking down on this smiling. Today, a year after, I wish to celebrate this with two new creations as company. ]]> Montreal-based fashion designer Raku Inoue is the author of the series “Natura Insects” which shows an incredible range of exotic butterflies and moths. Inoue makes them out of seasonal flowers and leaves, so their colors vary based on the season.

He uses the knowledge of Japanese art of arranging flowers, ikebana, and applies it to this unique art form. He says it has taught him to be respectful of nature and not to use rare, endangered species for his projects.
