]]> The sensational baker behind the Instagram account Sugar Baked goes simply by his first name, Jared. Describing himself on Instagram as a “game artist by day, baker by night”, he began decorating sugar cookies back in 2016 when he was feeling a lack of passion for his day job.

“Since then, I’ve had the most fun decorating cookies of whimsical characters — some well-known and others I’ve created myself,” he shared on Bored Panda. “Decorating helps me relive my youth and reminds me of my Saturday mornings watching cartoons.”

A fan of cartoon characters, flat-lays, and cutter flips, his decorated cookies look almost too nice to eat. His baked goods include designs of anime characters like Sailor Moon and Totoro, cartoonish looking animals, monsters, and flowers.

Okay, I might have reached my cookie peak. I think these are my favourite cookies I've done yet. I've wanted to do these for more than a year but I've been too scared to attempt them. I was convinced I'd mess them up, or suffer horrible colour-bleed with all that black icing. But they turned out exactly how I wanted them! I'm so relieved. @archiecomics were my absolute favourite growing up. I had hundreds of books. I attribute a lot of my desire to be an artist to them. I would draw these characters constantly and even today I find myself sketching them out. I've had a little sombrero and a little moustache cutter in my drawer I've been itching to play with so I figured it was time to put them to use and make some cookies just for fun. I tried to channel a bit of @inspiredtotaste by adding texture to the sombreros instead of doing straight flood and I have even more respect for textured cookies now. I'm participating in another cookie collaboration and with a theme of 'throwback/nostalgia' how could I not?! Especially when so many awesome bakers are taking part. 😍 #cookietbtcollab2019 // I toyed with a lot of ideas but ultimately decided it was time to tick Sailor Moon cookies off my list.
