The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards nominations were unveiled on January 8, 2025, highlighting outstanding performances in film and television. Due to the ongoing wildfires that have destroyed over 1,000 homes and businesses across Los Angeles County, the Screen Actors Guild canceled its planned live announcement of the nominations on Tuesday. According to the LA Times, Actors Joey King and Cooper Koch were set to present, along with SAG Awards Committee members Jason George and Elizabeth McLaughlin, as well as SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher. Instead, the nominations were released via press release.

Although Wicked had a subdued showing at the Golden Globes on Sunday, earning just a single award for box office achievement, it dominated the film nominations for the SAG Awards. The film led with five nominations, including Best Ensemble, as well as individual recognitions for Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Jonathan Bailey. A Complete Unknown garnered four nominations, while Emilia Perez and Anora each received three.

Last year, all five nominees for lead actor at the SAG Awards also received Oscar nominations, while the other acting categories saw a four-for-five match. Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Mark Ruffalo (Poor Things), and America Ferrera (Barbie) overcame SAG snubs to secure Oscar nods. However, it remains highly unusual for an actor to win the Oscar without first being nominated by their own guild, as reported by the New York Times.
