Arthur Shahverdyan’s “Avatar” Paintings Will Transport You to Pandora

Avatar: The Way of Water has been breaking records left and right since its release in mid-December, and Arthur Shahverdyan seems to love it as much as the rest of us. This visionary artist can’t get enough of creating Avatar illustrations that will take you straight to Pandora.

James Cameron’s movies introduced us to Pandora’s Na’vi inhabitants, instantly recognizable thanks to their blue skin, large eyes, pointed ears, and catlike noses and tails. We’ve seen many makeup artists try to recreate this look, and it was just a matter of time before illustrators hopped on the Avatar train.

Arthur Shahverdyan made quite a splash with his Avatar illustrations after being impressed by The Way of Water and drew many of the film’s key characters.

“Honestly, I’m having fun drawing Na’vi so much!! Especially the details of their faces and their anatomy!! It’s also crazy how many marine organisms or just creatures in nature are very similar to some human organs,” he wrote on Instagram.

Shahverdyan has been obsessed with Avatar in recent weeks, but there’s so much more to be found on his Instagram page. His illustrations are mostly inspired by celebrities and popular culture, and we’ve seen him immortalize Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, and many other stars through his illustrations.
