Hannah Jensen Hand-Carves Layers of Acrylic Paint

is a multidisciplinary artist with a printmaking background—and it’s clear from her work that she’s not your typical creator. She uses her unique blend of experience to come up with new ways to create art, often leaving her fans stunned in the process.

She starts her process by painting 40-80 layers of acrylic paint in different shades onto a board. Afterward, she takes the same board and then carves shapes and images for an amazing final result.

Peeling the paint layer by layer, Jensen reveals pictures that are full of texture, depth, and shadow. If you’re wondering where she finds inspiration for what she does, the nature in New Zealand, where she lives, plays a big role.

She’s inspired by animals and flowers that are everywhere around her, which is why the colors she uses vary from project to project. If you want to check out more of her work, we recommend visiting her Instagram page.
