Artist Takes Wax Figures and Revives Them

Wax-figure making may not be the most popular art form in the world, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t people who are passionate about it. From Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Hollywood to the iconic displays at the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum, there’s certainly an audience in place for this kind of stuff.

Sam Velasquez is one of those artists who does a little bit of everything. On his Instagram page, he promotes himself as an artist and surrealist painter—but the more you traverse through his account, you notice he does so much more. It appears that one of his passions is taking wax figures of iconic characters and “reviving” them.

Reviving them can mean anything from fixing a wax figure that was destroyed to simply enhancing one to look better. What Valasquez is able to do is truly impressive, although he somehow manages to make it look easy. By the time he finishes with his work, the final product is a vibrant, sleek, professional-looking wax figure.

Even if you’re not such a fan of this kind of art, it’s still easy to appreciate his level of skill. The detail and precision required to accomplish what he does is unreal, which is why his artwork really pops out of the screen.
