Artist Uses Paper To Create Beautiful Flowers

Stephanie Redlinger also known as The Florasmith on Instagram is a US-based full-time mom and artist who creates realistic-looking paper flowers.

“My current use of fine crepe paper is yet another iteration of my love for paper,” the artist shared in an interview for Ballpit. “I love the tactile feel of good paper. The smell of old paper. The myriad forms paper can take. I also love that paper often seems ephemeral and delicate, but under the right circumstances, it can last lifetimes.”

She says that she seeks inspiration from nature, and nature only. She loves visiting plant nurseries and botanical gardens, as well as the colors of landscape change throughout the season. Redlinger has always been interested in art and dreamed about drawing for Disney when she was a little girl.

“Being creative allows me to think about problems and challenges. I really love tackling problems – working through them to find solutions. I often gravitate to subject matter that not a lot of other people want to work on because it seems difficult. I enjoy the challenge,” she added.
