Barbara Franc Recycles Scraps into Metal Animal Sculptures

Barbara Franc, a London-based artist, has perfected the craft of recycling the metal scraps and trash. She skillfully turns them into metal animal sculptures that we find absolutely adorable. Her Instagram page, where she shares her work, has nearly 3,000 followers so far, but we predict that her unique art will make her famous soon.

Twisting and welding the metal parts, her sculptures quickly turn into life-like steampunk creatures. Her style is to make them look like they’re moving, so there are cats looking over their shoulders, squirrels who look like they’re about to jump, etc.

The use of discarded materials for her art comes from her enjoying the challenge of transforming something old into something new and exciting. “I have always been fascinated by the shapes and sculptural forms of animals, they present a never-ending source of inspiration to me,” Franc writes on her site. In order to capture the movements, she tries to 3-D draw with wire and other materials. We must say that the result is exquisite.
