Brooke Rothshank Creates Astonishing Miniature Paintings of Everyday Objects

Bigger doesn’t always have to be better. The works of Brooke Rothshank certainly support this claim.

Rothshank is an American artist who specializes in miniature paintings. Working with watercolor, she is able to transfer everyday objects to paper with great attention to details while keeping the size of the artwork around one inch.

Rothshank, who also works with ceramics and glass, started this intriguing project back in 2014. She decided to paint one miniature painting per day as an “effort to become more productive and less frustrated.” This soon became a passion project of hers and the artworks gained her significant popularity on Instagram, where she currently has close to 80K followers.  

Despite being small, these one-of-a-kind artworks require significant time to complete. According to Rothshank, it can take up to four hours to complete one piece.  And most impressive of all is that she doesn’t use glasses or magnifying glass while working.
