Canadian Artist Draws Fascinating Animals Inspired by Different Mythologies

Norse, Japanese, Hindu, and other mythologies have always been a great source of inspiration for artists. One of them is a Canadian artist named Erinye, who draws fascinating animals inspired by different mythologies.

Erinye, who also does Dungeons & Dragons artworks, has two series of mythology artworks called Mytho doggos and Mytho mice. In Mytho doggos, the artist illustrated mythological dogs like Cerberus from Greek mythology, Xolotl from Aztec mythology, and Sarama from Hindu mythology, among others. There are two parts of the collection, posted as multi-photo posts on Instagram.

The Mytho mice collection includes Fuku Nezumi from Japanese mythology, Ratatoskr from Norse mythology, and Zodiac Rat from Chinese mythology.

During a chat with Bored Panda, Erinye revealed that he started the Mytho doggos series in 2019 to celebrate the Year of the Dog according to the Lunar calendar. He then decided to do one mythological series that corresponds to the Lunar calendar each year. Mytho mice followed, but according to the artist himself, he got “tired” after wrapping it up.

Luckily, this won’t be all from Erinye when it comes to mythological artworks. He admitted that he plans to do “Mytho cats” and “Mytho chicken” before the project comes to an end. Until then, here are several more of his works.
