Crochet Artist Recreates Kids’ Drawings as Toys

Kids’ drawings are something unique in the art world. No matter whether they are good or bad in the artistic sense, they are always special in a certain way thanks to the children’s imagination that has been put into them. Fascinated by this, Latvian crochet artist Violeta Vasileviciute-Pociene decided to use kids’ drawings as a source of inspiration.

Being a mother of two boys, Vasileviciute-Pociene has witnessed all the unusual things that kids can come up with when given a pen and paper. Figuring the kids would be glad to see their creations come to life, she decided to turn one into a toy. The project turned out to be so satisfying that she continued recreating kids’ drawings and made them an important part of her creative output.

“I really like children’s imagination (sometimes adults) and have a lot of fun making toys for them,” the artist explains.

The artist, who has 18 years of experience, creates various other crochet toys and items, including jewelry. She is also currently working on a book that focuses on jewelry from textiles.

Violeta Vasileviciute-Pociene has an Etsy show through which she sells existing crochet works and accepts commission work. She also often showcases her creations on Instagram. Check them out below.
