Expandable Apartment Designs Provides More Space for Small Living Spaces

Small apartments might be affordable and cozy, but they come with their own set of challenges. Arguably the biggest one is maximizing your living space without making it look and feel overcrowded with furniture.

In order to feel more comfortable in a small living space, people are usually forced to make some compromises and keep the furnishing to a bare minimum. But New York-based company Ori Living is looking to change this with their expandable apartment designs.

Ori Living creates furniture and entire rooms that can be moved, expanded, retracted, or even hidden depending on your needs.

For example, their studio apartment design gives provides tenants with both the living room and a bedroom in just one single space. It features a bed that is mounted on the ceiling of the room in a way that complements the overall interior design. With a press of a button, the tenants can bring the bed down for a good night’s sleep and then bring it back in the morning to reveal a sofa and a table, effectively transforming a bedroom into a living room.

Their other designs have hidden entertainment systems meshed with a closet and room that can be easily turned from a living room to an office and vice versa.

Ori Living has turned its creative living space solutions into reality through a number of studios and apartments they rent out in bigger U.S. cities. They are also offering their services to people wanting to maximize their living space.

“Unlike before, spatial technology can actually affect all three dimensions around you: walls move, and rooms appear and disappear on command, opening new possibilities for the way you live,” Ori’s founder Hasier Larrea told Bussiness Insider.
