Good Bear Comics is the brainchild of illustrator James Lecarpentier, who attracted over 80,000 followers to his Instagram page so far. His humor is pretty dark, but that’s not stopping his illustrations from being bright and lively, giving his work a perfect balance.
Lecarpentier fell in love with drawing during his childhood years and used to carry a sketchbook with him everywhere he went. Ironically enough, sketching is his least favorite part of the creative process, and he prefers coming up with ideas and running them by his friends and family.
“If I think of something funny that would make a good comic, I’ll write it down. I have a giant list of ideas (with varying degrees of quality) that I sift through to pick my next comic. I usually run it by friends and family to see if they find it funny first,” Lecarpentier told Bored Panda.
It’s been a few years now since he started his creative journey with Good Bear Comics, but Lecarpentier is hoping he’ll soon be able to start another comic series or even start experimenting with traditional forms, such as watercolor.
