Home Chef from Seattle is Creating Transparent Fruit Chips

Chips are quite a popular snack, but have you ever tried eating ones that are 100% transparent? That’s the perfect way to describe the food creations of Alessandro Bruxel, a home chef from Seattle best known for his stained glass fruit chips.

Bruxel explained the process of making his stained glass chips in several YouTube tutorials. He uses all sorts of different fruits along the way, mostly pears and kiwis, and he even made fully transparent potato chips at one point.

The trick is to use a mandolin to cut your fruits into extremely thin slices, approximately 1.0-1.5 millimeters thick. After baking them for about 20-25 minutes or until they become translucent, you should lower the oven temperature and give them enough time to dehydrate.

The final result is truly astonishing, but this is only one of many amazing treats you’ll find on Bruxel’s Instagram profile. All of the meals he shared with the world look straight out of a Michelin-rated five-star restaurant, but his stained glass fruit chips are definitely his biggest hit and he usually uses them to decorate other dishes.
