Japanese Fans Get Praised for Cleaning the Stadium After World Cup Matches

Soccer fans usually have a reputation for being loud and behaving badly. But that is definitely not the case with soccer fans from Japan. Japanese soccer fans have been recently receiving quite a lot of praise after helping clean the stadiums at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

This practice first came to light thanks to social media personality Omar Farooq, who shared a clip of Japanese fans cleaning the stands after the opening game of the tournament. What makes this impressive is that their team didn’t even play in the game.

It was a similar scene after the game between Japan and Germany. Despite their team celebrating a 2-1 upset win, Japanese fans didn’t get carried away too much. They once again picked up the trash and made it easier for the stadium workers.

The behavior of fans has rubbed off on players in Japan’s national team as well. Instead of trashing the locker room as most winning teams do, the Japanese players actually left it spotless.

While most people are surprised by this kind of behavior, for people in Japan, being tidy and cleaning up after themselves is the norm. They practice it in every aspect of life, including soccer matches.

“We can’t leave a place without making it clean,” said one fan. “It’s a part of our education, everyday learning.”
