Katy’s Surrealistic Collages Are From A Distant Dream

Katy, better known as Collage Garden on Instagram, is a gifted London-based artist, who creates artworks by putting together different pieces to create a new masterpiece. Being inspired by surrealist artists like Man Ray, Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, and Marcel Marien, Katy classifies her work as oneiric, exaggerated, and paradoxical.

“Many of my collages feature people traveling to or existing in dream-like spaces. I enjoy experimenting with scale and context, injecting trippy elements into seemingly normal scenarios and manipulating objects of familiarity into bizarre versions of themselves,” she revealed in an interview for Ballpit.

Despite finishing Fine Art at Nottingham University and majoring in surreal sculptures, the artist decided to choose a more approachable medium. All her materials are purchased while exploring for a book on space, nature, dreams, gardening, and buildings in second-hand shops.

Besides seeing her art as a way of therapy and liking the idea of people enjoying it, Katy has bonded with other talented artists as well, which keeps her going.
