Sometimes, all it takes to create something new is combining two or more familiar things. Frances Priest’s vases and bowls are a perfect example of this. The Edinburgh-based artist started her journey by drawing ceramics on paper before she decided to give the real thing a try. Using scalpels and aluminum stamps, Priest creates the patterned effect we fell in love with.
“I can distinctly remember spending hours as a child tracing the designs with my fingers, leafing from page to page and absorbing the visual languages on display,” the artist told Cavaliero of Finn.
