Porcelain Clay Artist Dani Veliz Masterfully Recreates the House from Pixar’s “Up”

Over a decade after its release, Up is still remembered as one of the best Pixar movies of all time. Dani Veliz loves it as much as the rest of us, and she used her skills as the porcelain clay artist to masterfully recreate the house from this movie—balloons and all!

Veliz is based in Santiago, Chile, and she’s been using cold porcelain clay to create the most amazing figures and characters. Her art often draws inspiration from beloved animated movies, and Pixar’s beloved classic Up seems to be her favorite.

Up centered on a grumpy widower named Carl Fredricksen, whose life shattered after his childhood sweetheart Ellie passed away. To fulfill a promise he made to her, he decides to go on a dream trip to Paradise Falls. In one of the film’s most memorable sequences, he ties countless colorful helium balloons to his house, forcing it to fly away.

Veliz was as impressed by this scene as the rest of us, and she made several porcelain clay models of Carl and Ellie’s house that look just as good as the real thing. We’ve also seen her create clay figures of several beloved characters from this Pixar movie, including Carl, Ellie, Russell, and the golden retriever Dug.
