Rihanna’s fans have been urging her to drop new music for so long that it became a running internet joke and she finally answered their prayers. Her comeback single “Lift Me Up” is finally here and Twitter had a lot to say about this song after it hit the shelves.

Rihanna started trending on Instagram as soon as “Lift Me Up” came out, but why is this song such a big deal? Well, Rihanna hasn’t given us a new album since Anti in 2016, and only collaborated with other artists in between, so this song from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marks her first solo release, in a long, long time.

The singer’s fans couldn’t wait for her new single and reactions on Twitter were overwhelmingly positive. From being wowed by the maturity in the singer’s voice to predicting she’s going to pick up an Oscar for her comeback single, fans had nothing but words of praise for Rihanna.

Some of the viral tweets also revisited the old joke that’s been making us laugh for years now—Rihanna’s long absence from making music. Many of the viral tweets were followed by funny clips that perfectly capture the way we all felt after hearing Rihanna’s voice after so many years.
