Russian Artist Specializes in Knitting Food-Shaped Crochet

Crochet artists who fully master this textile technique have a tendency to make their creations smaller and more elaborate. That’s certainly the case with Svetlana of Pelyushenko Craft, who focuses on knitting adorable food-shaped creations that are mostly inspired by our favorite fruits and veggies.

Based in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Svetlana started her Instagram page in 2019 and attracted over 25,000 followers in less than two years. Her knitted life-sized foods quickly proved to be the biggest hit with her audience, so she decided to shift her focus and mostly started sharing creations that fall under this category.

Svetlana’s knitted foods usually take shape of healthy fruits and veggies, such as tangerines, mushrooms, tomatoes, and strawberries. Every once in a while, she enjoys knitting full plates of breakfast essentials we all know and love, such as eggs and bacon.

Svetlana recently joined Etsy, but she’s not there to simply sell her food-shaped knitwear. She prepared PDF patterns, filled with detailed, step-by-step instruction for everyone who wants to try to recreate her creative process and make knitted mushrooms, tomato slices, sandwiches, and other objects.
