Security Guard Becomes Internet Famous After Sheltering Dog From Rain With an Umbrella

Simple acts of kindness are still much appreciated despite everything suggesting otherwise sometimes. A great example is one security guard who recently became internet famous for sheltering a dog from the rain using his umbrella.

Twitter user Mel Gracie spotted this heartwarming scene outside Morrisons supermarket in Glasgow, Scotland. She snapped a photo and shared it with her followers, who were amazed by the guard’s kindness towards the animal.

Gracie’s post, which quoted the guard saying, “well you never know how dogs feel about the rain,” ended up receiving 20K retweets, 147K likes, and countless comments of support.

After the photo went viral, Gracie made an effort to find the security guard in question and tagged him in the original post.

“Found out the security guard is @DearmanEthan – thanks for making a lot of people happy today!,” she wrote.

Ethan Dearman, the hero of the day, later picked up on the attention he was receiving on Twitter. He shared Gracie’s post on his personal Twitter and echoed her sentiment about making people “happy.”

In the following days, the social media users started campaigning for Morrisons to give Dearman a bonus “for going above and beyond?” It remains to be seen whether the supermarket chain obliges, but we somehow think Dearman doesn’t care about that and is satisfied that his act touched people’s hearts.
