They say you should never judge a book by its cover, but professional bookbinders probably wouldn’t agree. The mastermind behind Stephy’s Bindery is one of them, and here custom-made covers will change the way you look at your favorite books.
Stephy started her bookbinding journey in 2021, but books have always been a huge part of her life. She became so fascinated by some of her favorite series that she started reading fanfiction. She enjoyed some of them so much that she wanted to put them on her shelves—and that’s exactly what she did.
Since fanfictions are a labor of love and don’t come in a physical form, she decided to print some of them out and craft the covers that fit their aesthetic. Her love for bookbinding was born, and she later repeated the same process on some of her favorite books.
“Bookbinding is something I do as a hobby to develop my skills. I currently work and study full-time in healthcare, and can only take a handful of commissions every month. I do this out of love for these stories and it’s my way to give back to the fandom/community,” she writes on her official website.
Fanfiction covers remain Stephy’s specialty, but she also created alternative covers of many beloved books, including The Song of Achilles, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and the Six of Crows series.
