Thrifted clothes have their beauty, and they can sometimes look as amazing as high-end designer fashion pieces. Fashion influencer and stylist Eve-Lily loves both in equal measure, and she’s capturing the difference between the two in her viral videos.

Eve-Lily is a fashion blogger from London, who describes herself as a “maximalist crazy cat lady”. The 25-year-old influencer built quite a following on social media after she decided to give us a sneak peek inside her closet, and she’s now followed by 300,000 people on Instagram and 500,000 more on TikTok.

Eve-Lily’s content is pretty versatile, and she first rose to prominence when she shared a clip wearing outfits from the fashion houses of Gucci and Prada in early 2021. We’ve seen her share many styling guides, fashion tips and tricks, and “keep and donate” videos over time, but she’s currently rocking our world with her viral “high-end vs thrifted” clips.

The point of these clips is to prove that wearing high-end clothes doesn’t always mean having a better style. Eve-Lily is a firm believer that it’s important to find a balance between thrifted and designer clothes.

“Can money buy style? – to me the answer is a hard no.. but as someone who started their social media journey with a 90% thrifted 0% designer wardrobe, I do feel that beginning to collect unique high-end pieces has definitely helped to elevate my maximalist style,” she explains on Instagram.

Intrigued by the beauty standards of the 21st century and the ‘Influencers’ era, blogger and fitness instructor Cassey Ho decided she would decode it. She started research in which she had been analyzing the top 100 most followed female Instagrammers for two weeks. She found out that there are a total of 22 attributes for each woman to be judged on.

“After a couple of weeks of gathering data and categorizing data, I can tell you that there is most definitely a formula and a very specific beauty standard that the Top 100 most followed women on Instagram adhere to,” the blogger shared her results in a YouTube video.

Dark eyes, full lips, small nose, long, dark hair, long neck are just some of the attributes an influencer has to own. To make the research fun, Ho transformed herself into an ideal woman of the 21st century, well, with the help of a new wardrobe and Photoshop.

To see her results, check out the video below.

The Friday feeling. 😍 These pics were taken after me & Jimmy’s three stop date night last weekend. ⬇ ⁣ ⁣ First, we met my parents at an outside table at @moonshinephilly for apps & drinks. 🌤 I love their food & we have the same sweet, great server every time we go. ⁣ ⁣ Next? We Ubered over to *finally* use our membership at @messinasocialclub. I LOVED the space. 🤩 We sat at the bar and got some more apps (delicious) & enjoyed chatting with bartender Seamus, who whipped up some equally delicious bevs. 🥃⁣ ⁣ Since it was still early-ish, we tried our luck with the line at @hopsinglaundromat, and made it there at the exact right time. I’ll never get over how special the drinks are there, it’s really the best place. 🍸⁣ ⁣ After one final drink, Jim snapped this gem while we were waiting for our ride home. 📸 It was the kind of city night I’m most thankful for – just bopping from place to place – finally trying new places & visiting your all time faves. ⁣ ⁣ I hope you get into similar adventures this weekend, my loves! ✨⁣ ⁣ Shop my outfit (top is available in neon pink 😍 & these are my favvvv @madewell jeans!) with @liketoknow.it ! http://liketk.it/2F5KY #liketkit #LTKsalealert #LTKcurves ⁣ ⁣ #whyilovephilly #phillyblogger #phlbloggers #curvystyle #mystylishcurves #phillyphilly #datenightoutfit #visitphilly #philadelphia_citylife #ilovephilly #phillylove #targetstyle

Emily, known online as herphilly, is a Philadelphia-based marketing specialist and a lifestyle blogger. Sharp was always physically bigger than the people around her, and growing up in a beach town in Jersey, she quickly came to believe that she was the anomaly in a world of skinny people. It was only when she left for college that she realized that there was more than that to the world, and that fashion isn’t only for skinny people.

Her first steps in the plus-size industry weren’t as a blogger, but behind the scenes, working for a fashion company for plus sizes. That’s where she was first introduced to plus-sized influencers, like Gabbi Gregg and Nicolette Mason.

It wasn’t that long ago that self-made fashion icons and businesswomen weren’t called influencers – they were simply bloggers. But that’s what sparked Emily’s passion: She finally had a model to follow, women who didn’t apologize for their size nor their love of fashion.

She started her own blog and social media accounts where she posts updates on her life, her fashion choices, food, and travel. The blog has helped her develop her career as a digital marketing specialist, allowing her to collaborate with all sorts of brands, but more than anything, it has taught her the most important lessons of her life: no matter what size you are, you deserve to love yourself.

We could all you more self-love and acceptance. Check out this influencer below.

Gevinson broke into the fashion industry in 2008, at the tender age of 11. The preteen was so fascinated by the world of fashion, that she started her own blog – Style Rookie. She used the blog as a creative outlet, writing about style as self-expression. The fresh voice attracted tens of thousands of readers, making Tavi an influencer when influencing was barely a thing.

By the time she was a sophomore in high school, she had launched her e-magazine, Rookie, where she published articles, essays, interviews, advice columns and so on. She became a voice for a generation of young girls who wanted to express themselves through style.

That was all years ago, though, and since then, Tavi has grown and evolved as a person and as a career-woman. Today she is a writer, fashion icon, influencer, activist and actor. Everything she does today still has the same optimism and enthusiasm of her early days as a blogger. She may have started young, but she’s still growing and evolving. We’re dying to see where she’d go next.

Yesterday marked 10 years since I started ye olde blog, Style Rookie. I’m so so grateful for all the opportunities to express myself that have since come my way, and for the audience that’s been there each time. When I was in middle school, I thought I’d never find like-minded people; once that happened, I thought every trip to New York or writing assignment would be the last. Now, I am fortunate enough to get to make a living doing what I love; to regularly soak up culture in NY, where I live; and to have mentors, friends & readers who are constantly changing the way I think. THANK YOU for making it possible. Here are random reflections + a photo for each year, starting with when I copied Comme des Garcons slogan makeup on my face like it was cheek stain. Ages 12-15 by me, 16+ @petrafcollins. In 2008, I thought I didn’t like writing; in 2010, I realized I’d been doing it every day for two years; in 2018, it’s how I know who I am. In 2006, when my dad came home from New York with a ticket stub from The Producers on Broadway, I examined it in awe; now, I get to see theater regularly and even be in it. It’s a completely different way of experiencing time from writing or working on the internet, and I love having all three. Until recently, I thought I knew what made someone a “real” writer, editor, actor, CEO, and that I wasn’t one. Now, most sects of media/entertainment have been so shaken up by technology and by #MeToo’s examination of power that the gatekeeper archetype and old markers of success feel pretty outdated. This is thrilling. In 2008, the fashion industry was worried blogs would replace magazines; by 2018, the real threat turned out to be social media. In 2011, I saw @rookiemag as a response to most mainstream teen and women’s magazines; in 2018, I’m more worried about technology. I’m also deeply thankful that the Rookie community has proved that a mission-based, audience-first philosophy has more longevity than clickbait. And I can’t wait to be able to share Rookie’s next manifestation with you. I used to have trouble smiling in photos; this is still the case. From ages 11-20, I was a person; at 21, I am a defaced subway poster for Young Sheldon.
