When you hear the phrase “I can’t wait to walk down the aisle”, you normally assume someone is talking about their upcoming wedding. Or perhaps the wedding of their dreams they hope to have one day after a whirlwind romance.
But these coronavirus times are anything but normal, and certain phrases have taken on a whole new meaning in these crazy days. Now when people say they can’t wait to walk down the aisle, they are talking about dreams a little closer to home.
One of the things most people quite rightly miss in lockdown is being able to go shopping. We’re not talking about ill-advised online purchases while lying in bed awake at 2 am—we mean real, actual shopping, walking around browsing items. Possibly even surrounded by your friends and other shoppers, no one keeping six feet away from you. Imagine the freedom!
We wonder why this person’s particular dream shopping aisle is a Halloween theme. Is that when they’re expecting we’ll finally be let back out into the malls? Waiting another five months for some real-life retail therapy is certainly a spooky prospect.
It’s not just big lifetime events that people are dreaming of these days. Even the simple act of going to the gym is the stuff of fantasy. Forget that big white dress—we just want a reason to put on a bra again.
