These Monochromatic Drawings Can Calm the Minds of Viewers

Albert Chamillard is a pen and ink artist whose geometric drawings have received commendation for its tranquility.

Each drawing is definitely flat but Chamillard’s meticulous use of cross-hatching creates a sense of volume by distinguishing more and less saturated parts. The artist uses vintage ledgers and incorporates the paper’s blue and red borders to frame delicate crisscross patterns inside the imagined surface, which makes his apparently simple drawings exciting.

Chamillard manages a drawing and book making studio in Tucson, Arizona, and when works on his personal projects after business hours. He is represented by Etherton Gallery in Tuscon  and Eric Firestone Gallery in New York.
