This Illustrator Has a Refreshing Take on Fashion

Fashion illustration started out as a way of visualizing designs before sewing actual clothing. But these days, fashion illustrations don’t actually need to result in clothes. In fact, it can be the other way around, with fashion illustrators documenting, and more often than not, interpreting recent fashion trends through their art.

Such are Karolina Pawelczyk’s illustrations. Drawn loosely, and rather humorously, Pawelczyk’s work is a refreshing take on fashion. According to the Polish-based illustrator, she finds inspiration in the world around her, including stylish girls, good music, Pinterest, movies, and fashion itself.

With a growing fanbase online, Pawelczyk’s clients include Marc Jacobs Fragrances, Armani Beauty, Glamour GermanyELLE Polska. Recent work include an illustrated interpretations of Prada handbags and Marc Jacobs perfume bottles.

“I have been drawing and painting my whole life,” Pawelczyk shared with I Love Illustration. “After graduating I knew that I want to improve my drawing skills and I wanted to do it in the best possible place so I traveled to London and learned how to draw fashion at Central Saint Martins. The time I spent in London was amazing, super inspiring and it was the best thing I could do for myself.”
