TikToker Julia recently discovered that her grandmother spent her teenage years dreaming of being a fashion designer, and she decided to do something about it. She found her old fashion sketches from the ’40s and decided to transform them into show-stopping dresses.
Julia is a 27-year-old woman from Chicago, who attracted over 400,000 followers to her TikTok page @boringbb. Her social media channels blew up after she discovered that her grandma went to a fashion school during the ’40s and dreamt of being a fashion designer, but decided to put her dream on hold to take care of her family.
After seeing how amazing her old sketches were back in 2021, she found a creative way to make her grandma’s dream come true.
“I knew grandma was talented, but I was like, wow, these are really much better than what I was envisioning in my head. And she mentioned that when she dies, she wanted them to get sent out to magazines or displayed at her funeral… I just kind of thought, why wait until she’s dead?” she told Insider.

Julia went on to post numerous videos that show her wearing dresses inspired by her grandma’s sketches and filming her reactions. She always tries to stick to a budget of under $300 and often uses vintage fabrics from her grandma’s own collection.
