A Canadian tourist’s vacation in the Turks and Caicos Islands took a horrifying turn when she was attacked by a shark while attempting to take a photo. The 55-year-old woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered catastrophic injuries, losing both of her hands in the incident.
The Attack at Thompson Cove Beach
The attack occurred on February 7, 2025, near Thompson Cove Beach on the island of Providenciales. According to reports, the woman was in the water when she spotted a six-foot shark and decided to engage with it by taking photographs. Tragically, as she got closer, the shark lunged at her, biting at her arms, hands, and leg.
She was pulled from the water by first responders, who wrapped her wounds in towels, before being rushed to Cheshire Hall Medical Center for emergency treatment. After being stabilized, she was transferred off the island for further medical care, though it has been reported that she has lost one of her hands below the wrist and the other midway up her forearm.
