Ukrainian Artist Makes Creates 3D Animal Portraits Based on Their Personality

Hanna Tsukanova is a talented self-taught artist who creates realistic-looking animal bas-reliefs. Her portraits are made from sheep’s wool using the dry felting method. She says, that not a single animal is hurt during the process, although the whiskers for cats are natural; they are collected by her friends who own cats. While the noses are sculpted from special plastic, the animal eyes she draws herself.

According to the Ukrainian artist, each portrait takes a couple of days and sometimes weeks to finish. But before she starts her project, she talks with the pet’s parents for a long time.

“I learn their story, what their character and habits are. For me, the main thing is to capture the character of the pet, capture his soul, and not just convey the resemblance,” the artist shared with Bored Panda. I am happy when pet owners write to me that they cried when they received my work. Because I managed to catch the soul of their pet.”

Butler need a house! 🙏🏻 . This portrait for sale. Part of the money from the sale will be sent to help 🆘 #AmericanEskimoDog . . And my model, charming dog Butler, is looking for a new family. He lives in Chicago in @chicagoland_eskie_rescue . Breed: American Eskimo Dog Age: Adult Sex: M Size: S • Butler is a beautiful, male, larger mini/small standard, American Eskimo Dog. He came to our rescue from an Iowa puppymill/breeder. As expected, because of his background, Butler had a tough start, very shut down and unwilling to interact with anyone. But we have GREAT NEWS, Butler is making tremendous progress and we are so proud! Butler now LOVES to run around with other playful dogs, is following the small pack in his foster home, and is even liking being pet, beginning to come for attention on his own! Butler has come such a long way over the last 6 weeks, it is so encouraging! He is a beautiful boy with a very sweet personality. Butler really enjoys having another dog or two around; he is playing with his doggie foster siblings and even taking an interest in toys. The perfect home for Butler is one with plenty of dog experience, Eskie experience is preferred, a couple or family with possibly teenagers, but no small children, and cats are OK too. Having a fenced yard is a must, a playful, well-trained dog in the home would be a huge plus for Butler to follow and learn from. Butler is only beginning to learn what it means to walk on leash, and will do fine with a doggie seat-belt for car rides. Butler is not housebroken yet, but getting much better and will go outside when directed & encouraged where to go. Butler will need continued support, training, confidence building, and socialization. There is so much joy in watching dogs with this kind of background blossom, and it gives you a renewed contentment in the little things, the small accomplishments gained along the journey of becoming a "real dog." With these special dogs, there are lots of firsts that will make you want to do a happy dance!
