Viral “If I Were a Fish” Song is Spreading Positivity All Over TikTok

Social media can be a pretty dark, negative place, but one aspiring musician on TikTok decided to change that. Carook became a true social media sensation after putting a smile on everyone’s face with her viral hit “If I Were a Fish”.

Corinne Savage aka Corook recorded the viral video alongside fellow Nashville musician Olivia Barton. It took them around 10 minutes to write and record the viral video, which celebrates the joy of being different.

“I am expressing myself in the purest way I know at this moment like I never have before. I think that leaves me out of a lot of boxes or groups that are way more clearly defined, whether it be the way I express myself colorfully, or my gender or genre of music,” Corook told The Rolling Stone.

@hicorook

I was having a very emotional day, feeling insecure and out of place. So I cried to Olivia and after feeling through it, we wrote this song in 10 minutes to remember the joy in being different 🐸 happy Tuesday

In the TikTok caption of her viral video, Carook explained she was having “a very emotional day” and Barton helped her lighten the mood by writing this silly song, with such lyrics as, “If I were a fish and you caught me / You’d say, ‘Look at that fish shimmering in the sun’ / Such a rare one, can’t believe you caught one.”

“If I Were a Fish” gained over 14 million views on TikTok since the duo posted it earlier this month, and the song was later released on several streaming platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Music.
