Watch 200 Bassists Play Iconic Bass Line From Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure”

Queen and David Bowie’s collaboration “Under Pressure” features one of the most memorable bass lines in modern music. In order to honor its magnificence, 200 bassists recently joined forces at Allianz Parque stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and delivered an epic cover of the iconic song.

The effort was helmed by YouTuber Charles Berthoud, who had the help of fellow bassists from the Rockin’ 1000 project. Assembled in 2015, the Rockin’ 1000 is a band comprised of more than thousands of rock musicians from all over the world who occasionally play large-scale covers and concerts.

Berthoud shared the video of the cover on his YouTube channel, and it is a really impressive watch. It shows him starting to play the bass line alone before 199 other bassists join in what was a perfect example of synchronization.

“Under Pressure” was originally released as a single in 1981 before being later included on the Queen’s album Hot Space. It reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and is frequently included in the best songs of all time lists, including the Rolling Stones magazine’s influential The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The track was sampled by Vanilla Ice for his hit single “Ice Ice Baby.”
