DreamWorks Animation made some of the most iconic animated movies in recent memory, including Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda. Still, they are perhaps better known for their iconic logo and theatrical opener that features a child fishing on the crescent moon.
While the main theme remained the same since its debut in 1997, the logo and opener have seen some tweaks and changes throughout the years. The most recent update was unveiled several days ago, with DreamWorks releasing a video of their new theatrical opening.
The video shows Moon Child taking a flight on a crescent moon and interacting with various characters from some Dreamworks movies like Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey from Shrek, baby from Baby Boss, Kung Fu Panda’s Po, and How to Train Your Dragon’s Toothless. After he finishes his brief adventure, the Moon Child rises to the clouds once again before settling on a crescent moon and resuming his fishing activities.
The new DreamWorks Animation logo and the theatrical opening were created for the studio’s 25th anniversary by Kendal Cronkhite, who worked on the Trolls franchise. It will make its debut during the theatrical release of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and should feature different lineups of characters and varied designs in future releases.
