Watch a Dog Catch a Home Run Ball at an MLB Spring Training Game

Catching a home run ball is the dream of every baseball fan. But in order to do it, fans need a bit of luck and skills to do it. However, even this is not enough when there is a fetch professional in the stands that wants the ball just as much as you do.

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Kansas City Royals squared off in a spring training game that didn’t have a homer until the seventh inning. Then Dodgers second baseman Michael Busch stepped on the plate and launched one to the left of the field.

While Busch was celebrating, several fans tried to catch the home run ball in flight, but none of them was successful. The ball bounced off the ground and landed in front of a dog who was happy to showcase his fetch skills. The pupper grabbed it scooped it up in a heartbeat, and then happily wiggled his tail while the rest of the park cheered him on.

The dog’s owner, who wore a Dodgers jersey with K-9 written on the front, later took the ball out of his mouth and proudly raised it in the air for everyone to see.

“Did the dog catch that?” the announcer shouted. “Well, how ’bout that!”

It appears that all those hours of fetch paid off. And it just shows that more baseball fans should bring their dogs to games if they want to get their hands on a home run ball.
