With $260,000 at your disposal, you may struggle to buy a suitable home in most parts of the United States. But in Spain, this sum would be enough to buy an entire village.

Spanish real estate website Idealista recently posted an intriguing listing that advertises the sale of the village Salto de Castro. Located on the border with Portugal, the village comes with 40 homes and all sorts of other buildings, including a school, a church, and even a swimming pool. But the whole village being for sale isn’t the surprising thing here; it’s the fact that it comes with a price tag of $260K.

According to BBC, the village was originally built to house the families of workers of the electricity generation company Iberduero during the construction of the nearby dam. Salto de Castro was abandoned in the 1980s, and no one has lived there since.

The current owner bought it in the 2000s with hopes of turning it into a resort but couldn’t complete the project. The village is now in bad shape, and anyone open to buying it would need to invest up to $2 million to turn it into a functional space.

The company Royal Invest, which represents the owner, says that there is no lack of interest in the village. Around 300 buyers from around the world made their intentions to buy it known, and it could soon be off the market. So you better hurry up if you don’t want to miss out.
