Yuuki Kawakami’s Motion Graphic Art is Inspired By Music

“I am a person saved by art. I had no merits at all, but through making things, I was able to rethink and grow up,” this is how director and motion graphic artist Yuuki Kawakami feels about art. Being inspired and affected by music, the Tokyo-based artist says that listening to music, “we often express the imagined colors and shapes.”

During his career, Kawakami mostly used digital technology, however, he likes the expression of adding analog texture to it.

“I like expressions that are simple but have a feeling of space. My work is always digital, but I feel the texture and feel there, I am looking for expressions that evoke emotions,” the artist shared in an interview for Ballpit.

He reveals that he learned graphic design professionally in high school and later he continued his education at Tama Art University where he studied art.
