Gerard Di-Maccio is an 83-year-old artist born in Algeria. He began drawing when he was very young, and thankfully, his parents supported his talent. His grandfather was his first admirer who motivated him by hanging his first painting in his shop window.
Soon the Di-Maccio family left their home in Algeria and moved to Paris so that Gerard could study from the best. In 1965 he started teaching at the Beaux-Arts Academy in Paris. He is also known as the artist who made the biggest oil painting in the world. It is 9 meters tall and 27 meters long, which equals the size of a blue whale or three busses in a row.
But his fame didn’t stop there. Nowadays, he is known on social media as well. Together with his daughter, Gerard does phenomenal challenges and paintings. Oh, and the inevitable trends are his favorite. You can tell that he really enjoys all the fun that TikTok offers.
He currently has 7.4 million likes and videos that have been watched more than a million times. The most famous clip is the one where he recreates his daughter’s drawing.
