Amber Griffiths Recreates Body Parts and Organs as Embroidery Art

Amber Griffiths is an embroidery artist from Shropshire, England whose works are inspired by human anatomy. She creates impressive embroidery art that depicts body parts and organs in an anatomically correct way.

Griffiths, who has been creating embroidery art since her university days, got the idea for her unusual pieces when she wanted to create something unique for Valentine’s Day. Instead of making a plain red heart, she figured she could recreate a heart as a human organ. She followed this piece with embroidery brain and lungs before deciding to do all major organs and body parts.

Her creative process starts with collecting various photos and anatomical depictions of an organ or body part she wants to stitch. She then uses photos as a reference to make a sketch that will serve as a reference for the actual embroidery. While some pieces can take her less than an hour to make, she can sometimes spend up to a week working on a complex piece.

“I get inspired by all sorts of things, usually just life, seeing people move and thinking ‘I should really make an ankle’, that kind of thing,” she revealed in a recent interview.
