Fruit carving is one of the most underrated art forms out there, but running into the right artist will change the way you look at it. Angel Boraliev is one of the best fruit carvers that you’ll ever come across and his creations have to be seen to be believed.
Before discovering his love for carved fruits, Boraliev worked as a cook in a small restaurant. His career shift started the same way as most do—with a truly awful boss, who made his life a living nightmare.
“I found that to carve fruits and vegetables is the thing that was calming me down and was easing my nerves… I was totally impressed of the dexterity, the skills, the technique even the carving tools used for creating a piece of art from a simple watermelon or an apple or a turnip,” writes Boraliev on his official website.
Six months after discovering his love for fruit carving, Boraliev became a carving decorator in a prestigious hotel in Golden Sands, Bulgaria and he never looked back! Almost a decade later, he has several awards under his belt and countless carved fruits and veggies.
It usually takes him two to three hours to finish each carving and coming up with unique designs is the most challenging part of the whole ordeal.
