Angie Hall Anderson is Taking Abstract Embroidery to the Next Level

Most embroidery artists stick to following a similar path, but not Angie Hall Anderson. She decided to break the mold and push the boundaries of embroidery art with her abstract creations that look, unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Anderson embarked on quite a creative journey before discovering that embroidery is her true calling. She was always passionate about art, but something inside her shifted when she decided to major in art in college.

She lost her confidence because she felt her art wasn’t especially creative and switched to graphic design later in life. Her new calling left her creatively unfulfilled, as well, and she finally found the creative spark that she was looking for once she discovered embroidery.

“It wasn’t until I got into abstract embroidery (only 2 years ago!) that I started feeling like ‘No, I really AM creative! I have my own ideas and I don’t need to reference a photo in a magazine to make art!’ It’s been pretty amazing, made only more thrilling by the fact that there are so many of you here to cheer me on,” she wrote in one of her Instagram posts.

Don’t expect to find any pretty flowers in Anderson’s work because her embroidery is unlike anything you’ve seen before. She uses all sorts of different materials, from thread and yarn to colorful beads, to make her creations truly pop and make them as abstract as possible.
