Architect Designs Forest-Covered Skyscrapers With the Help of AI

Indian architect Manas Bhatia recently turned to the artificial intelligence program Midjourney in order to come up with an intriguing future for urban development. With the help of AI, Bhatia designed forest-covered skyscrapers that would provide humans with housing but also bring other benefits.

The skyscrapers mimic the shapes found in nature while having a living and breathing façade. Their exterior is covered with lush green trees, plants, and algae, allowing them to blend in with their surroundings and be purposeful.

According to Bhatia, buildings with this type of exterior would provide numerous benefits for humans and wildlife.

“The facade can serve as a living, breathing wall that not only provides aesthetic value but also enhances the quality of life for those who live and work nearby,” he explains. “The plants on the facade can improve air quality, reduce urban heat island effects, and provide habitat for wildlife.”

While AI was responsible for giving these intriguing skyscrapers their form, it was Bhatia who was responsible for key elements of the project. The architect came up with the ideas and descriptions, sometimes refining them more than 100 times to get the best result while also working in Photoshop to give the designs their final form.

“The trial-and-error part is the most fun,” he shared in an interview with CNN.
