Architect Imagines Floating Stadiums Designs With the Help of AI

With each new Olympic Games or World Cup, there is a need to develop new stadiums and sports arenas or reconstruct the existing ones. This is why architect Vincent Callebaut teamed up with Artificial Intelligence to think of a better solution, one that would be more sustainable in the long run.

Instead of building new stadiums for every competition, Callebaut proposes “Oceanums”, a series of nomadic floating stadiums. The idea is that these “half-stadiums, half-boats” navigate the world’s oceans and go to the parts of the world where they are needed.

“In this nomadic vision of new sporting and cultural practices, it is no longer the supporters who go to obsolete stadiums but sustainable and ecological stadiums that go to the supporters,” Callebaut shares.

These stadiums would be built using bio-sourced and recycled materials, including the plastic waste concentrated in ocean waters. They would run on renewable energy like wind and solar radiation.

Also, the designs are based on organic structures and would include solutions that would aid the ecosystem and make them “havens of biodiversity.”

“Long live sustainable sport, respectful of the planet, humanity, and biodiversity!” the architect adds.
