Dave takes old artwork and adds pop culture elements to them including Godzilla, Rick & Morty, and Star Wars. The artist admits that his favorite franchise to work with is Star Wars.

The series began with an old landscape he had that wasn’t selling, so instead of throwing it out, he decided to make something interesting with it. “After a couple of years, I decided if I was going to throw it out, I could try and do something interesting with it. I think I added a fallen AT-ST, half in a lake, and Ewoks fishing off of it,” he told Bored Panda.

Before working on the paintings, Dave analyzes them to try and “match” their style.

Acquiring the old paintings has been easier during the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, Dave would search thrift stores and garage sales for landscapes, but now people are cleaning out their homes and are bringing him painting directly. For these paintings, he spends $5 or $10—which if you ask us is a real bargain!
