Meet Juliet Johnstone, A Favorite Designer Among Celebrities

You probably have seen Bella Hadid and Dua Lipa’s customized Carharrt pants and thought they were from a famous designer, but they’re actually from a lesser-known artist named Juliet Johnstone. Johnstone started off creating custom painted pieces and she’s now venturing into starting her first collection.

It’s safe to say that Johnstone knows fashion as she’s a graduate of Parsons and she’s been experimenting with wearable art for a while. Her latest designs are painted fleece pullovers, a piece that the artist has been wearing for a while. Her inspiration came when she couldn’t find pullovers that represented her.

She told Vogue UK that she searched eBay for ’80s and ’90s fleeces in bold colors, but she was unable to find one that fit her the way she hoped it would, “The one issue for me was, the fit was never right. The women’s fleece was a tailored cut and was meant to hug the body, which I did not want. The small men’s fleece was a cooler and boxier fit, but it was too long and didn’t fit the shoulders.”

Her painted fleece sweatshirts solve this issue as they come with elastic and cord stoppers at the bottom, so they can be adjusted to fit anyone. Johnstone believes in sustainability and being eco-friendly, so with this collection, she’s only creating what’s purchased.

We love a designer who believes in taking care of the environment and the fleece sweatshirts are just what we need to stay warm this winter.
