Avital Avital’s Ceramics Look Like They’re Alive

Looking for a ceramic vessel that will give your home a unique decorative touch but can also be functional? Then you should definitely take a look at the works of Israeli ceramic artist Avital Avital.

Avital makes flower-inspired ceramic creations decorated with stems, spikes, leaves, buds, or flowers in bloom. Thanks to these delicate details present on the vessels, it seems like they are living things from nature that are capable of blooming and flourishing further.

These fascinating ceramic works are a result of Avital’s exploration of the relationship the link between “functional art and conceptual sculpture,” as well as her fascination with nature and its creations.

“I am interested in balancing between the delicacy of the porcelain and its strength and to use its potential transparency by sculpting colorful petals that are skin-like when directed to a source of light,” she told Colossal in a recent interview.

Avital, who has a degree from Tel Aviv’s Avni Institute of Art and Design, makes most of her works in her studio in Ramat Gan. Her ceramic creations have been exhibited around the world, including in the United States and the UK. You can check out more of them by visiting Avital’s social media or by scrolling below.
