This might surprise you, but teenagers today are not only interested in TikTok videos. Some of them are actually doing amazing stuff, like 17-year-old Mack Rutherford. This Belgian teen recently became the youngest ever to fly solo around the world.
Rutherford started his impressive journey five months ago and since then, has gone through 52 countries and five continents.
He officially completed the feet earlier this week when he landed on an airstrip in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. This was the same place where he took off on 23 March 2022.
Upon landing, Rutherford received recognition for breaking several Guinness World Records. This included being “the youngest person to circumnavigate the world by aircraft solo” and being the “youngest person to circumnavigate the world by microlight solo” at the age of 17 years and 64 days.
“Just follow your dreams, no matter how old you are – work hard and move forward to achieve your goals,” Rutherford said.
Rutherford belongs to the family of aviators and he obtained his pilot license in 2020. At the time, he was the youngest pilot in the world. His sister Zara Rutherford is also a Guinness World Record holder, having been the youngest woman to fly solo around the world.
