Blogger Collects Pictures of Ugly Houses Built In Belgium

Hannes Coudenys is a blogger who has been documenting Belgium’s ugly buildings for seven years now. Coudenys shares his work on his Instagram account called Ugly Belgian Houses and draws the attention of both ordinary people and architecture enthusiasts from all over the world.

“Normally, if you like architecture you like good houses, but in Belgium, there’s a lot of ugly architecture. So I started taking pictures of it”, the blogger shared on Bored Panda. “Because regulations are quite liberal and we love to design our own quirky dream house.”

Although Coudenys received mainly positive feedback for his work, the house owners weren’t pleased about their homes being made fun of. He received emails from lawyers so he was forced to stop his blog. However, in 2013 he decided to relaunch it, and since then, he has been enriching his collection of ugly buildings.
