Cassandra Dias Creates Cool Embroidery Landscapes

The embroidery works of Cassandra Dias are a pleasure to look at. Thanks to their depiction of pristine white beaches, snow-covered mountains, and lush forests, they bring a desire for travel and exploration.

This effect of Dias’ works isn’t by accident. This talented artist, who also paints and does ceramics, is an avid traveler. She draws inspiration from her past travels for her works and, at the same time, gets to relive some of the cherished memories while the artworks take shape.

“I feel sort of homesick for certain cities, and I get the urge to want to translate my memories of what all my senses experienced in my time there to canvas and thread,” she explained in a recent chat with My Modern Met.

While the quality of her work would indicate that she has been doing embroidery for a long time, the fact is that she only picked it up a couple of years ago. She was trying to find a creative outlet during the coronavirus pandemic, and figured embroidery is a fun practice she could try.

It turned out Dias had quite a knack for threads, allowing her to develop her own distinctive style. Thanks to positive comments from social media users, she decided to continue focusing on embroidery. The California-based artist now sells her works on Etsy and regularly shares new creations on Instagram. Check more of them below.
