Josh Gluckstein Creates Life-Size Animal Sculptures Out of Discarded Material

Traveling the world and volunteering in various wildlife sanctuaries allowed artist and illustrator Josh Gluckstein to meet many fascinating animals in person. He now uses these experiences as an inspiration for an intriguing series of life-size animal sculptures.

Gluckstein’s works are highly detailed, perfectly capturing the features of particular animals. This becomes even more impressive when you consider the fact that the London-based artist works with a limited selection of material.

Striving towards the sustainability of his art practice, Gluckstein makes an effort to use discarded and recycled materials. For his most recent works, he only relied on paper and cardboard, but still managed to keep the quality of his work intact.

“Its accessibility and versatility allow me to bring the animal to life and capture their character and intriguing beauty while creating zero waste,” Gluckstein shares.

According to this talented artist, he hopes his art will “raise awareness for endangered species” and “contribute to their preservation.”

Gluckstein’s works have been well-received in the art world and were exhibited in the UK as well as abroad. Some of his sculptures are also part of art galleries and available for purchase, with part of the proceeding going to wildlife conservation projects.
